De Tuinderij (Rock 'n Roll Escape)

De Lier Closed 1 room

About this venue

De Tuinderij is an event venue in De Lier in Westland (weddings, parties, corporate events) that ran one escape room as a side activity from around 2016: the Rock 'n Roll Escape, built in an old yellow American school bus. The story is set in 1963: as an American rock-'n-roll band on tour, you're ambushed by four armed robbers in Death Valley and must escape the bus within an hour. The handful of reviews from that time were positive โ€” players enjoyed the recognizable sixties theme, the nice details and the puzzle-dense setup ('not much searching, lots of puzzles') โ€” but the number of ratings was too small for a stable score. The escape room has since permanently closed; De Tuinderij continued as a pure event venue and even won the Golden Award Best Event Venue 2025, so the closure looks like a conscious strategic shift, not a failure.

What visitors say

  • Recognizable sixties theme with nice touches โ€” the nostalgia did the immersion work
  • Puzzle-dense rather than search-heavy, with 'a clever finale' as a memorable element
  • Original concept: an escape room in a real American school bus
  • Too few reviews to build a reliable score; the room quietly disappeared from view
