Amaze Escape (Binckhorst)

Den Haag Closed 4 rooms

About this venue

Amaze Escape on Binckhorst was a pioneer: the KGB room (opened August 2013) is considered the very first escape room in the Netherlands, built by Hungarian founders in a characterful industrial building (the former air force headquarters MOOOF). At its peak it ran five rooms, including the Crazy Doctor in the tiled old government spaces, the street art tribute Urban Legend and The Competition, an early Dutch head-to-head format where two teams played mirrored rooms with sight of each other's progress. Reviews praised the hospitable founders, the original assignments and the constantly refreshed rooms, though the 2013 technology felt dated by the late 2010s next to newer venues. The closure around 2020 was not market failure: the building was demolished, and the company relocated after a farewell marathon to the city center as VR Experience Center.
