Kamer 51 was Zeeland's very first escape room: a basement room of about 25 m² on Nederstraat in Middelburg where you get exactly 51 minutes — the business's trademark — to puzzle your way out. Alongside the classic Kamer 51 are De Tovenaarskamer (fantasy, more challenging) and De Schatkamer based on the fictional 18th-century adventurer Jan Willem Stautenhoofdt, plus outdoor GPS tours through the city. Visitors are especially enthusiastic about the warm welcome and clear explanation from the owner; the puzzles themselves are accessible search-and-lock work with nice surprises, perfect for families and beginners. Caveat: seasoned players find it a bit too easy, and the owner's website (kamer51.nl) has been broken for years — the domain redirects to a completely unrelated site.
