Escaperoom The Deep (also Into the Deep) has been running since June 2018 at recreation park Oesterdam near Tholen, literally on the storm surge dike beside the water. You are locked in a submarine-like space and unravel the mysteries of the Drowned Land of Reymerswael — the real Zeeland city that was swallowed by the sea after the St. Felix Flood of 1532. Sound, light and special effects build the underwater atmosphere, and the signature mechanic is rising water: those who are too slow lose pearls, so failure is gradual rather than all-or-nothing. Casual visitors are enthusiastic about the original, hyperlocal theme and beautiful location (84% on 33 votes elsewhere), but enthusiasts are more critical — 6.3 on escapetalk — due to limited puzzle depth, little story after the start and the cramped space with low ceilings ('watch your head').
