This pop-up escape room was a charitable initiative by Lionsclub Houten, played in November 2025 in the dark corridors of the real Fort Honswijk on the Lek — a 19th-century fort of the Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie. In the scenario 'Verzet op Fort Honswijk' (April 1945) teams played the Schalkwijk resistance group who had to restore radio contact with the Allies within 45 minutes to relay hiding addresses. The limited run sold out completely, was extended for another week due to success, and raised €9,000 net for Stichting Join Us; winners 'De Boar Gamers' escaped hint-free in under 31 minutes. Because it was a one-time charity pop-up, there is no review footprint on Escapetalk or TripAdvisor — local press especially praised the fort's atmosphere and the good cause. The Lions plan to repeat the concept in November 2026 at a new location in the Oude Dorp of Houten.
