Room Escape Enschede sits in the old Polaroid factory (Performance Factory, Hoge Bothofstraat) and that's immediately the big draw: the rooms are built around the real history of the building. In De Doka you play in the authentic darkroom where Polaroid—and later The Impossible Project—loaded light-sensitive instant film into cassettes, mostly in pitch darkness with infrared technology; Het Lab is a hermetically sealed former research lab with a dark past, and in the Break-in Room you have to break in rather than escape. Reviews vary widely: the host and in-theme hints receive lots of praise and the dark concept is called original and surprising, but critics find Het Lab dated, text-heavy, and sometimes illogical (escaperoomsnederland 6.7). A venue for those drawn to the unique Polaroid story and playing in the dark, rather than for high-tech perfection.

Al met al een van de slechtste rooms die we ooit gespeeld hebben.— escaperoomsnederland (Annemiek)
