Gamescape in Oldemarkt is the company behind De Slager van Oldemarkt, since 2016 one of North Netherlands' most thrilling escape rooms, reopened 1 May 2026 following an expansion of over 80 m². The horror/crime story revolves around the village butcher whose shop and family went up in flames in the early 1990s and who was condemned by village gossip but never by a court—has he resumed killing, or is it yet another tall tale? The setup is special: a mini-escape at reception, then you're taken by minibus through the village to the real location, and places you pass appear in the game. Visitors praise the oppressive atmosphere, puzzles woven into the story, and the shock ending (escapetalk 8.5); criticisms are that it gets cramped with seven players and the story isn't quite watertight.
