Othmar's Geheim was a temporary pop-up escape room (April to June 2022) by Beleef Ootmarsum, played in Het Johannink's pop-up store on Dwarsstraat. The story took players back to the year 112, when legendary king Othmar founded 'Othmarsheim'; in his room the group had to decipher the code of the Othmarridders, in a game where fiction and real Ootmarsum history were deliberately mixed. A game facilitator in the space ensured every group experienced the full story, with a fixed intro and debrief around the play hour. The single detailed review rated the room as 'Excellent' and local media warmly received the tourism initiative; the closure after three months was always planned, so aggregate scores do not exist.
