About this venue
Escape Room Almelo was Almelo's first escape room, located on Grotestraat above grand café 't Hookhoes — café downstairs, two rooms upstairs. Its showpiece is De Bankroof (16+), based on the real resistance raid on the Dutch Bank in Almelo on November 15, 1944, the largest bank heist of the war with over 46 million guilders in loot; there's also the contemporary Hacker Room, where you crack codes before a laptop is remotely wiped. Casual visitors are enthusiastic (9.3 on escaperoomsnederland.nl) about the décor, technical puzzles and clever café-plus-escape-room combination, but connoisseurs on Escapetalk are more critical (5.9 for De Bankroof): broken props, sloppy resets and hints that almost give away the solution come up in reviews.
