About this venue
De Slager van Oldemarkt is a horror-thriller escape room in the business park of Oldemarkt, part of a small franchise with variants around Steenwijk, Heerenveen, Wolvega and Meppel. The story revolves around the region's most famous butcher shop which burned down in the early '90s: the butcher's family perished, he was arrested but released — and now people are disappearing again. You have 60 minutes to escape before the Butcher returns, with owner Dennis as host who commits fully to his role. Visitors are full of praise: music, decor and puzzles work strongly together and tension builds well (9.5 on escaperoomsnederland.nl); the only criticism is that the finale delivers less of a climax than the build-up promises.
