About this venue
Zombie Escape Amsterdam was a horror escape room on Fokke Simonszstraat, near the Heineken Experience, and is now permanently closed (signals point to ~2024/25; the website still exists). In the sole room, the Zombie Lab (Gen Lab Z), you ended up in a genetics laboratory where an experiment had gone wrong—with the unique feature of a real, live zombie actor in the room with you as palpable time pressure. Visitors called it 'cool and scary' with a realistic atmosphere; some even deemed it Amsterdam's best escape room. The puzzles themselves were modest in level—great for newcomers, thin for veterans—and quality hinged heavily on which host or actor you got. Criticisms included a flat ending and sometimes the absence of an intro-briefing.
