About this venue
Escape Room Wormerveer (formerly Escape Plan) was the Zaanstreek's first escape room: a detached, specially-built KGB prison complex on the grounds of Paintball Jungle on the Wandelweg. The one room, the KGB Room, consisted of five connected spaces — solitary cell, medical cell, interrogation room and even a morgue — in which you had to decipher the clues left by your imprisoned predecessor as a spy, find the floorplan and escape with a briefcase of secret documents. The atmosphere and the multi-room complex were praised, and the deliberately stingy hint policy ('not for the fainthearted') attracted fans of hard rooms. There was also criticism: an experienced team needed twelve hints, one review mentioned broken glass, and the muddy approach over loose planks irritated visitors. The venue is now permanently closed (around 2024/25) and the escapeplan.nl domain is offline.
