About this venue

De Professor was the most famous room at Escape Room Texel, a small independent island business at De Ruyterstraat 60 in Oudeschild (opened July 2016). The story was wonderfully local: Professor Swartschaep hates Texel โ€” the tourists, the sheep, everything โ€” and after one frustration too many wants to blow up the entire island; you have 60 minutes in his lab to prevent the explosion. The handmade, low-tech room garnered enthusiasm in its early days ('super thrilling and surprising', hints at exactly the right moment), but later reviews complained about far-fetched puzzles, fragile props you weren't allowed to touch, and a small dark space (average 6.8). Both rooms are now listed on escapetalk as permanently closed; the business seems to have quietly faded around 2020, without official announcement and with unreachable owners.
