Du Monde was a high-end escape room venue in Oude Dorp, Amstelveen (Dorpsstraat 104), attached to a same-named restaurant by the same owners—you could play and dine in one evening. It had three rooms: Maffia Bar, a dark 1920s gangster bar in black, white and grey where you pulled off a heist under the watchful eye of a silent bartender-actor; Sauna of Sin, a horror room in a decaying sauna where a murderer roamed and could end your game; and 9RichRooms, claimed to be the Netherlands' first self-resetting escape room with nine film-set-like micro-rooms. Visitors particularly praised the actor experience (the 'eerie' silent bartender) and the thrilling, cinematic atmosphere. Du Monde Bar & Kitchen restaurant filed for bankruptcy and permanently closed (mid-June 2026), taking the escape room with it; the website has since shown only a 'temporarily offline' notice.
