Truescape was a family business with one iconic survival-horror room, The Asylum, which started in Rotterdam in 2015 and moved to Breda in early 2019. The story: a psychiatric institution that was closed in 1947 after reports of violence and experiments on patients — you infiltrate to discover the truth, while a secret sect supposedly conducts experiments there. The signature was immersion through light, sound and decor instead of expensive animatronics, with mild jump scares. With a 9.9 on escaperoomsnederland (11 reviews) this was one of the highest-rated rooms ever in Breda; reviewers praised the seamlessly interlocking puzzles, the tension buildup and the warm hosts, with only criticism of the backstory told verbally. NOTE: the escape room has been closed since 2021 (coronavirus); the company continued as Truescape Gaming Company, designing digital and physical games.
