Escape Island is the outdoor escape room of GibbonSport on an actual island at Recreation Area De Warande (Wilhelminakanaal Zuid 66) in Oosterhout. Two themes play out on the same island: 'Cast Away', inspired by the Tom Hanks film, in which you as the survivor of a crashed cargo plane collect lost mail packages, find 'Mr Wilson' and earn your raft, and 'Lifeguard's Locker', a lifeguard theme with less public information. You play with up to 8 people (co-op or head-to-head race), 60 minutes, minimum 15 years old and with a swimming certificate. The trademark: the exit is the reward—whoever solves the game paddles an actual, sturdy raft off the island. Escapetalk scores are not available, but the overall tone is strongly positive: visitors praise the fun mix of thinking, doing and searching puzzles, the original escape method and excellent guidance. Criticism is limited to pre-event doubts about raft stability (proved unfounded) and weather dependency.
