Outside Escape Maastricht is not a physical escape room but an outdoor city game via smartphone: 'The Bokkenrijders Are Back'. The route starts at the Sint-Servaasbrug and takes you through approximately 2.5 km / 120 minutes via the centre of Maastricht, past well-known landmarks and hidden gems. The story: estate agents, restaurant owners and even churches receive threatening letters, and hoof prints appear at the crime scenes — has someone revived the notorious 18th-century Bokkenrijders? You follow detective Mila in her investigation. The game is entirely self-guided (link + code after booking), you can start at any time, pause and even continue the next day. Reviews (few in number, but predominantly positive) particularly praise the magnificent route and discovering unknown places; due to the self-guided format, the suspense and immersion of a staffed room are missing.
