Nonsense Escaperoom

Heythuysen ★ 8,2 (escapetalk ~8.2 (2 reviews)) Closed 1 room

About this venue

Nonsense Escaperoom was a small, independent escape room above restaurant/café De Tump in Heythuysen (opened June 2021, closed 1 August 2024). Its flagship 'The Church Raids' was a rarity: a mystery based on a real local story, in which you trace the path of fellow villager Tjeu van de Tup, who survived the first German church raid in the village. The central question — was he captured after all, like his father and brother, or did he escape? — is precisely what made the room special. Two heavyweight reviewers (each with 125+ rooms played) gave the room a strong ~8.1–8.3, especially for story and puzzles beautifully woven into the narrative. Criticism came regarding decoration (theme scored only 7.0) and the small reception area. The reason for closure is not publicly known; reviews remained good until the end — the pattern fits a passion side-activity above a village café without growth prospects.
