About this venue
Kasteel Huys ter Horst offered two escape rooms in the real medieval ruins of the castle, run by volunteers whose proceeds went towards the castle's restoration. In De Diefput you were transported back to the Middle Ages, accused of a crime and locked in the authentic thieves' dungeon; Het Gevanghuys was a battle room where two groups in mirrored cells competed against each other. The big advantage was the atmosphere: costumed volunteers who stayed completely in character, torchlight and the authenticity of a 13th-century ruin — reviewers called it one of the highest-rated rooms in Limburg (around 9.7, Escape Room of the Month July 2017). The escape rooms have since been discontinued; the castle itself remains open and now offers large-group games (El Penal, CastleQuest) and murder dinners.
