GeoFort in Herwijnen is an interactive geography and cartography science center in a restored 19th-century fort of the Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie. The escape room War Escape! (now closed) took place in the actual fort passages: you had joined the resistance but were caught in a raid and locked up in the old fort full of narrow passages, dark tunnels and hidden spaces, with 60 minutes to escape. The room was designed in part by students from the University of Twente (2017) and used the actual building plus spatial, map-oriented puzzles as its strength. There is barely a body of reviews: the only review found gave ~9/10 and praised the original way to enter the room and the fun day. GeoFort itself is still open; the escape room was quietly removed from the offering when the center focused more on other exhibitions.
