At group activity company De Twirre in National Park De Alde Feanen, you board the skûtsje of skipper Jan and his wife Sjut — an escape room in the cabin and hold of a traditional Frisian cargo sailing ship. The backstory was written and narrated by skûtsje-sailing legend Klaas Jansma and puts you right into the early twentieth century via an introductory film. There are three identical rooms side by side, so up to 21 players in three teams can compete against each other — the engine for group arrangements with neighbouring company Annage (orange cake, drinks by the water). Visitors give it an 8.8 on escapetalk and especially praise the authentic atmosphere (atmosphere 9.3): electronics hidden in old compasses and clocks, crafted wooden ship-painting and varied nautical puzzles with humor. There are hardly any downsides; however, the story is more decoration than mystery and the room is primarily aimed at groups.
