About this venue

Silent Town in Burgum is, together with The Asylum, one of the very best horror escape rooms in the Netherlands: TERPECA Top Room 2024, 4.5/5 at Escape the Review ('currently the scariest room in the Netherlands') and approximately the 13th room in the country. In this 90-minute immersive thriller, you enter the abandoned psychiatric hospital of a village that has been shrouded in supernatural mist since October 17, 1974 — and discover that not all patients have left. A roaming live actor, cinematic fog, light and sound effects, and surprisingly serious puzzle density make it feel to visitors as if you're inside a horror film; after the game, you can watch the highlights on a big screen with a drink. Enthusiasts travel from all over Europe for it ('2.5 hours' drive, but it was totally worth it'). Note: the owners are closing down — November 29, 2026 is the last playing day, as they are building new experiences in Emmeloord.
