Buitenescape Appelscha is not a classical escape room but an outdoor escape experience, run by Camper and Caravan Appelscha: you spend about 2.5 hours trekking through the village and countryside around Appelscha with an iPad and an 'ActionPack' backpack full of tools. There are two licensed GPS/AR games: the fairy-tale The Magic Portal (with separate children's version) where you collect crystals to close a magical portal, and spy thriller Operation Mindfall (14+) where you must stop a Spider Tech virus. Along the way, puzzles, search assignments and augmented-reality moments alternate — sometimes you even have to wake a sleeping troll via the screen. There are barely any public reviews to find, but those who write about it especially praise the beautiful route through Appelscha's nature and the challenging tasks.
