Escaperooms Lelystad was in December 2018 the very first escape room in Lelystad, set up with over a year of construction time by the local couple Alieke and Jorn in an inconspicuous business premises on the Griend. The single room, De Bokser, was not a classic escape but a police case: as an elite team you had 75 minutes to search the house of retired boxer Henk de Vries and solve the case 'De Zwijger'. Visitors especially praised that the game started before you got in the door — tea with the commander, a briefing, roles for each player — and that the ending adapted to whether you had found the right solution. With an 8.6 on escapetalk and a service score of 9.2, the room scored remarkably well, despite simple décor, little technology and quite a few padlocks. The venue is now permanently closed; the old domain now redirects to Sky High Escape Room in Almere.
