Escaperoom Meppel is one of Drenthe's first escape rooms (2016) and is known for its set decoration: in 'The Worst Hotel' you check in at a family hotel 'since 1826' where guests don't return because of a strange voice in the rooms β and reception plays that check-in entirely in character. There's also 'Collision Course', where as the crew of a sabotaged ship you must escape within an hour before you crash against the Meppel tower, plus a kids' variant of the hotel for 8-12 year-olds. The place is in transition: Collision Course moves to a new location on Bleekerseiland (2026). Visitors praise the authentic hotel set ('hard to believe it wasn't a real hotel room'), the atmospheric welcome and friendly owners; on TripAdvisor 93% recommend it. A caveat from reviews: the game itself (game experience 6.8) lags behind the atmosphere, and one group kept their winter coat on the whole session because of the cold.
