Emmen Escapes sits on the former zoo grounds of Emmen (Rensenpark) and claims to be the largest escape room in Northern Netherlands at over 250 m². There are five rooms plus a children's room, ranging from the vault-cracking De Kluis and the dual battle room The Safehouse (two identical rooms competing against each other) to the flagship De Mijn: a coal mine of around 200 m² for up to 16 players. Visitors praise the atmosphere and references to the old zoo, the friendly staff, and the tension of the battle format where hints cost time. There is also criticism: sound leaks between the battle rooms so teams hear each other's solutions, the hint system sometimes lags behind progress, and experienced players find some rooms too easy with rather many combination locks.
